TifTuf Bermuda is bred to thrive in South East Queensland’s hot, dry climate. Its exceptional drought tolerance and heat tolerance make it ideal for lawns facing long summers. It needs significantly less water than most turf grass varieties — around 2.5mm per week in cooler months and at least 6mm in hot or drought conditions.

Even though TifTuf is low maintenance in terms of water and chemical inputs, regular mowing is essential. Mow at least once a week during the growing season, maintaining a height of 1.5 to 3.0 cm, depending on your preference. This supports dense growth and promotes a healthy lawn.

Apply a balanced nitrogen fertiliser such as Lawn Solutions Premium Lawn Fertiliser in spring or early summer to encourage green leaf tissue and robust new shoots. Avoid over-fertilising, as this leads to faster growth and more frequent mowing.

TifTuf naturally suppresses weeds thanks to its tight growth habit, but seasonal weed control is still recommended. Its aggressive lateral spread via rhizomes may require edging along paths and flower beds.

Stay ahead of lawn pests like grubs with preventative treatments. We recommend applying Acelepryn in early spring and autumn. To reduce the risk of fungal infection, avoid overwatering and ensure good drainage, especially in shadier areas, such as alongside fences.

With TifTuf, you can worry less about your lawn becoming dry or withered in the middle of South East Queensland’s summer heat. Your TifTuf bermuda lawn is designed to handle these conditions.

Whilst it is highly drought tolerant, you still need to do some regular watering to help your TifTuf bermuda grass grow: around 2.5mm per week in cooler weather or a minimum of 6mm in hot and dry weather. This is significantly less than the water other lawns require.

Regular mowing – even though it is a low maintenance lawn from a water and chemical input, it still needs regular mowing, at least once a week. The best height is between 1.5cm and 3.0cm, depending on your personal preference.

Use LSA Premium lawn fertiliser – the nitrogen in the fertiliser will make your lawn look amazing. The best time is spring or early summer. Don't over fertilise TifTuf, it doesn't need it, the more you fertilise it, the more frequent mowing you will need to do.

Use weed control – It’s an important part of lawn maintenance although with TifTuf you would expect to have fewer weeds than other turf varieties. However it is important to only use a weed control product suited for your TifTuf turf. Weed control should be conducted seasonally. Insect Control - it's important to protect your investment from seasonal attacks by lawn grubs. We recommend an application of Acelepryn in early spring and autumn to keep the lawn grubs away.
