Putting Down New Turf

New turf isn’t difficult to put down as long as you remember some basics and do your prep work ahead of time. You need to be ready to go because once the turf is cut from the turf farm you need to get it laid as fast as possible. If not your roots are going to dry out and you want to avoid that.

Tips for Laying Turf

Don’t leave your turf stacked for a long time. The heat from this can cause damage. Lay turf on slopes or steep areas sideways or across. You want the turf to be laid in a pattern similar to laying brick. Always make sure you fit the pieces as snug together as is possible.

Finishing Up

Once you have it almost finished you can use a sharp knife to fit around curves or odd shapes, like the base of a tree. The last step is hiring a water-filled roller to press the turf down firmly. This will prevent the roots from drying out while putting it in good contact with the soil.
